We All Look Good At the Starting Line

Written and presented by Carol Williams and Harry Farrell and sung with the Pacific High crew including Michele Williams,Veronica Bedolla & Debbie Fehr at the 2006 Fall Meeting, and just Debbie Fehr at the 2007 Fall Meeting. Three Cheers for a job well done!

We all Look good at the starting line
Our clothes are dry , and we're feeling fine.
Adrenaline's flowing like a Max EBB Tide
The race is on, let's enjoy the ride

Where's the stop watch
I think we're about to Start
Hey- There's captain Hooke,
Or should we call him Black Bart

There's Freedom one
where Margaritas flow
With John at the helm
You can be sure
There's tequila down below

We're rounding the buoy
Watch that Boom!!
Drop that pole!!!
Oh no - the car is in the wrong hole!

Where's Rich??
Where's Chris ??
Let's check their Tack!!!
They really hug that lay line
And NEVER - Never give us any slack

I see the Committee boat
No - (pause)-- Its part of a fishing fleet
I think I heard a gun
To come in FIRST would be so-o-o-sweet

There's Dan !..Dan's the Man
He earns his place and stands his ground
We laugh at stories he spreads around
The ones he tells about coming in last -
Are due to fade into the distant past

Dan's the man on Luna SEa
We all enjoy his company
He writes about bringing up the rear
But those days are over - is our fear

And where did that Kit guy come from
Whips right past us - with no consideration
He honed his skills with the transpac clan
Proving to all he is not the proverbial flash in the pan

We all look good at the starting line
If you are over early - please don't whine
The crew is primed and ready to charge
We know there's no worry
Islanders JUST DON'T barge

No matter what happens on the course today
We'd rather be on an Islander than on a "J"

If you want to be part of a great venue
you don't have to be "hot "
We just want you

So Harry - what do I need to race my boat ?
Just a couple of sails
but it has to float!

It's not too late - so sign up now
IF you think you can't race
We'll show you how

Come join the fun
Gain some knowledge too
We have mentors to help
And we'll find you a crew.

WE all look good at the starting line
Our clothes are dry and we're feeling fine.
No matter what happened on the course that day
You'll be glad you were on an Islander and not a "J"

The boating industry both large and small
Spend Monday morning awaiting our call
What is broken - what fell apart
each sad story -
brings joy to their heart

Now cruisers view sailing differently
Filling their boats just like an R.V.
Creature comforts make them hot
But you know what?
They cost alot.

So racer / cruiser no need to chose
Try them both
You've nothing to lose

Whether racing or cruising
At the end of the day
- we all know ....
We'd rather be on an Islander than on a "J"
